Norway: Guidelines

Norway

The norwegian health authority ‘Helsedirektoratet’ has provided new recommendations for parents and professionals. Children under two years old should be kept fully away from screens and mobilephones, iPads and computer. Children up to five years old should spend max. one hour a day in front of a screen.

For norwegian authorities it is important that screens are not used as nannys because it is unhealthy for children to spend passive time in front of screens over longer periods.

As most small children spend many hours daily in institutions, the responsibility for complying with the new recommendations lies with the norwagian professional paedagogs.

For children between 6 to 17 years old, the advice is that they should have a minimum of one hour’s excercise a day.
